Portal frames are self supporting structures normally formed in aluminium or steel and powder coated to the desired finish.

The structure is erected on foundation pads and allows out of tolerance conservatory roof’s to be installed by supporting the weight of the roof itself and rafters / hips at mid span thus reducing deflection.

In this way large open areas can be covered such as:-

Swimming Pools
Dining areas on Hotels and Public Houses
Court yards between buildings
Large free standing glass houses
Portal structures will normally require a site inspection survey and measurements carried out, in order to prepare drawings and calculations required by local authorities

Additional lead time should be allowed when considering this type of build.

Orangery Style Roof

The orangery roof is the latest style to have been made popular by the general public and can be achieved by various means. It can be as simple as a standard conservatory with the addition of a full pelmet surround or a full brick built style with a lantern roof supported on its centre.

These styles are generally incorporated at initial installation, but we can now offer a simple solution through the EUROCELL LUSSO pelmet. This pelmet offers an orangery style internal pelmet that can be either installed as part of a new conservatory or retrofitted to an existing one, giving a whole new concept to the structure.

The pelmet can be fitted with mood lighting either up or down which give the room a warm and pleasant feeling and forms an attractive addition to your home.

Equinox^® Tiled Roof

Tailored Systems Ltd introduced the Equinox Tiled Roof System to its portfolio with the intention of offering an alternative roofing option capable of allowing full round of the year use of your conservatory irrespective of the climatic conditions outside.

The roof consists of an aluminium substructure which can be erected on your existing conservatory base and windows. The area between the bars is then insulated with a 100mm thick insulation block. This is then overdrawn with a layer of marine ply and finally covered with a waterproof membrane.

The external of the roof can be finished in either the metrolite pressed steel tile or with the more conventional Tapco tile. The internal of the roof would be finished with a 56mm plasterboard backed insulation panel which can be skimmed or cladded.

The total installed roof structure will achieve a ‘U’ value of 0.18 (0.15 for the Scottish market). Large opening or fixed lights can be incorporated in the roof design giving both light and ventilation to the area. External soffits and gutters can be colour matched to the existing frames.

Tapco Tiles
The Tapco slates offer an alternative to the metrolite tiles on the Equinox roof, but can also be used as an alternative to natural slate. Made from limestone and polypropylene the tiles are lightweight, durable and come in a range of colours to look identical to their natural counterparts.
